Online Dispute Resolution Course at CITDR University of Massachusetts

A Colleague writes "The University of Massachusetts Center for Information Technology and Dispute Resolution is pleased to announce a new online course which introduces students to theories, practices, and products of Online Dispute Resolution (ODR).
Description: Participants will learn about the history and development of ODR, the current state of the field, the role of technology as a "fourth party", and the advantages and disadvantages of using online techniques to resolve disputes. The course will systematically explore several types of ODR platforms, including automated negotiation, solution databases, and virtual meeting rooms. Participants will also get a chance to try out the tools used to practice ODR. The course will involve several role-plays, and each participant will have a chance to participate in these simulations. At the conclusion of the course all of the participants will receive a certificate indicating their completion of the training and summarizing the work completed.
Principal Instructors: Colin Rule, Director of Online Dispute Resolution for eBay and former CEO of Online Resolution, Ethan Katsh and Alan Gaitenby of the University of Massachusetts Center for Information Technology and Dispute Resolution.
Time: This online course will run from February 1, 2004 to May 14, 2004.
Registration and fees: Register at Umass Continuing Education. This is a three credit course at $250/credit
